KFC Gravy Recipe – Copycat Fast Food Recipes

Everyone needs a classic gravy recipe on hand for the holidays, cookouts, or random mashed potato cravings. And while you could take the easy way out and get store-bought gravy, it won’t taste nearly as good as one you make at home – especially when it tastes just like KFC’s. Mashed potatoes and gravy are iconic at KFC, and they’ve really mastered the homemade comfort food flavor, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a side dish. In this recipe, I’ll walk you through how to whip up a quick-and-easy copycat version of the famous KFC gravy. You’ll want to bookmark or print this one – I guarantee you’ll come back to it time after time. Enjoy!

Notes

  • When you first heat the butter, be sure to use a whisk to continuously stir so the butter and flour mixture does not burn at the bottom of the pan.
  • If you prefer, you can use chicken or beef powder instead of bouillon. If you do, you’ll want to use 4 teaspoons of each.
  • Want to make KFC-inspired mashed potatoes along with your gravy recipe? You don’t need to make them from scratch. Pick up a bag of your favorite instant mashed potatoes (KFC uses potato flakes to make their mashed potatoes!).
